The Kalachakra Of Great Compassion Notes
This sound meditation is a form of inner tantra, the sole purpose of which is to generate increased compassion and illumination for the benefit of one’s self and other sentient beings.
Although the meditation is based upon the teachings of Tibetan Buddhist Yoga, one does not have to be a Buddhist or a yogi (or yogini) to benefit from the meditation, or to benefit other sentient beings through the meditation’s tantric union of opposites (kalachakra).
All that is required to practice this type of kalachakra tantra is to have an open mind and heart, and an intention to benefit all life. Track one contains the intellectual background and instructions on how to practice the meditation. It is the ground upon which you can place the meditation in context.
Track three is the actual meditation and lasts 55:17 minutes, so get into a comfortable position before starting. It is better to sit upright rather than to lie down for the meditation itself but if sitting up is uncomfortable, you can do it lying down. However, you may find it more difficult to stay awake when lying down as the sounds in this meditation tend to generate altered states of awareness that can sometimes be dream-like in quality. If you find yourself drifting off to sleep during the meditation, it may help to open your eyes slightly while listening.
