Happiness Blessings Sound Meditation
Row of Buddhas at Wat Arun, Bangkok, Thailand.
It is said that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas reside in a state of blissful awareness, and it is from this heightened state of awareness that the Buddhas and other enlightened beings assist sentient beings to attain enlightenment and blissful awareness for themselves.
It is also said that enlightened beings are stirred from their reveries when someone calls upon them. Furthermore, it is believed that mantras can transport one into elevated states of mind where it is possible to interact directly with enlightened beings.
We will be calling upon the archetypal beings of Chenrezig and Kuan Yin to manifest benevolent and auspicious energies in our world. And you will also be a recipient for these highly coherent energies as you will call them forth in yourself.
From the perspective of Buddhist philosophy, while Chenrezig and Kuan Yin are enlightened beings, we share a vital attribute—we are all connected to the innate goodness of intrinsic awareness. While our goodness and innate awareness may elude us at times, as when we are in the grips of negative emotions and/or destructive actions, this does not negate our own intrinsic awareness or the vast intrinsic awareness of the Cosmos.
This sound meditation centers around two enlightened beings and their associated mantras.
The Buddha of Infinite Compassion known as Cherenzig, in Tibetan or Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit is the first, and the second is that of the Bodhisattva Kuan Yin, or Karuna, (he/she who hears the suffering of the world).
This meditation is a means for you to enter highly pleasing and benevolent states of body and mind. These states of body and mind have restorative and healing powers, and they arise from within you during the meditation.
These highly coherent mental and physical states of being are the platform from which you will send positive energies to all sentient beings on Earth and to Earth herself.
You do not need to be Buddhist to practice this meditation. Nor do you need any familiarity with Buddhist meditation or Vajrayana practices. You have everything you need to benefit from this meditation and to impart benevolent energies to the web of life.
How To Do the Meditation
I suggest listening with stereo headphones or earbuds for the greatest acoustic impact.
When the soundtrack begins, imagine that there is a sphere or ball of clear white light in the center of your chest (i.e., your heart chakra). Imagine that you are floating in this sphere, which is brimming with clear white light.
As you focus on the sphere of light in your heart chakra, imagine that you are floating above the Earth inside your ball of light.
Next recall feelings of happiness and peaceful equanimity. Imagine that the sounds are coming out of the ball of light and streaming from your heart to Earth and all her creatures. It is important to understand that these benevolent energies flow through you and not from you.
During the meditation continually bring yourself back to the feelings of happiness and peaceful equanimity so that the stream of benevolent energies flows uninterruptedly.
This is a fairly long sound meditation at 13:23 minutes.
If you choose to experience this meditation on a regular basis, not only will you benefit the Earth, but you will also benefit yourself.
The Mantras
The two mantras in this sound meditation are…
Om Mani Peme Hum,
which is the mantra of Chenrezig and translates as Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus. The jewel represents compassion and the lotus is the heart chakra.
Om Maha Karuna Hri Kuan Shi Yin
translates as Homage to the Great Karuna, he/she who hears the suffering of the world.
